Know When is Holi and its shubh muhurat?

The festival of Holi is celebrated on the day of Phalgun Shukla Purnima during the time of 'Pradosh'. This year Phalgun Purnima will start from 16:18 on Monday, March 6, 2023 and will end at 18:10 on Tuesday, March 07, 2023. The places where the sunset is before 18:10 on March 07, there will be Pradoshkaalin Falgun Purnima for two days and the places where the sunset is after 18:10 on March 07th, then at those places Pradoshkaalin Purnima will be observed for only one day. The day i.e. Monday will be on March 6, 2023. In such a situation, it is as per per Dharmashastra to do Holika Dahan on two days on March 6 and March 7 according to the difference of place.
Areas where sunset will be before 18:10 on 07th March and Holika Dahan Muhurta
On March 07, before 18:10, sunset will happen in the territories of East India. These include eastern Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, northeastern states, Odisha, north-eastern Chhattisgarh and eastern districts of Madhya Pradesh. In these states, Phalgun Purnima of Pradosh is on both March 6 and March 7. In such a situation, according to the Dharmashastra, Holika Dahan is done on the second day, because on the first day Bhadra remains in Pradoshkal. The duration of Bhadra is from 16:18 in the evening of March 06 to 05:16 after midnight. Holika Dahan is done during Bhadra-free period. That's why Holika Dahan will be done in these states on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, in Pradoshkal (before 18:10).
Areas where sunset will be after 18:10 on 07th March and Holika Dahan Muhurta
In the western regions of India, the sunset will be after 18:10 on 7th March. These states include Jammu-Kashmir, Himachal, Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Western Uttar Pradesh, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Kerala etc. These are shown in the map. In these states, Pradosh Kaalin Purnima will remain only on one day i.e. March 6, 2023, Monday, but on that day there will be Bhadra in Pradosh Kaal and on that day Bhadra will be till 05:16 after midnight. In such a situation, there is a rule of Dharmashastra that if Bhadra ends before 'Nishith Kaal' (midnight), then Holika Dahan is done after Bhadra ends, but if Bhadra is ending after 'Nishith Kaal', then leaving Bhadra's 'Mukhavadhi', Holika Dahan is done. There is a rule to burn Holika.
यदि निशीथात्प्राक् भद्रासमाप्ति तदा भद्रावसानोत्तरमेव होलिका दीपनम्। निशीथोत्तरं भद्रासमाप्तौ भद्रामुखं त्यक्तवा भद्रायामेव।।

As far as 'Bhadramukh' is concerned, it will be from 02:00 to 04:00 after midnight. In such a situation, according to the above statement of Dharmasindhu, Holika Dahan can be done in Bhadra only.
According to Dharmasindhu, on the second day the full moon is not during the Pradosh and on the first day it is Bhadra at the time of Pradosh, then on the second day if the full moon is three and a half 'prahars' or more and after that Pratipada is 'Vridigamaini', then Holika Dahan should be done in 'Pradosh Vyapini' Pratipada on the second day, But if Pratipada is 'Hrasgamini', then on the very first day Holika Dahan should be done in Bhadra or 'Bhadra's tail' leaving ]Bhadra Mukh'.
परदिने प्रदोषस्पर्शाभावे पूर्वदिने प्रदोषेभद्रासत्वे यदि पूर्णिमा परदिने सार्धत्रियामा ततोधिका वा तत् परदिने च प्रतिपद् वृद्धिगामिनी तदा परदिने प्रतिपदी प्रदोषव्यापिन्यां होलिका। 
उक्तविषये यदि प्रतिपदो ह्रासस्तदा पूर्वदिने भद्रापुच्छे वा भद्रामुखमात्रं त्यक्त्वा भद्रायामेव वा होलिकादीपनं।। 
This year Pratipada is 'Hrasgamini' (depleting), because Pratipada's duration is less than Purnima's. In such a situation, it would be as per Dharmashastra to do Holika Dahan on March 6 in Bhadra itself leaving 'Bhadramukh'. There are two views of the scholars in this regard:
According to the first opinion, when Holika Dahan is to be done in Bhadra itself, then Holika Dahan should be done in 'Bhadra Puchkaal' leaving the Bhadra's mouth. This year, the tail period is from 24:48 to 26:00 (from 00:48 to 02:00 after midnight).
According to the second opinion, in the said statement of Dharmasindhu, only 'Bhadramukh' is instructed to leave. In such a situation, Holika Dahan should be done in Bhadra itself during 'Pradosh Kaal'. This year Bhadra's tail period is also after midnight. Efforts have been made in the scriptures to avoid Holika Dahan after midnight, so it would be appropriate to do Holika Dahan on March 6 during 'Pradosh'. In the places where there is a tradition of Holika Dahan in 'Godhuli Vela', Holika Dahan should be done in a period of 12 minutes after sunset.

Dhulandi
The festival of colors 'Dhulandi' is celebrated on the second day of Holika Dahan. In this way, in the states where Holika Dahan will be done on Monday, March 6, in those states,
the festival of Dhulandi will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, and in those states where Holika Dahan will be performed on Tuesday, March 7, 2023, the festival of Dhulandi should be celebrated on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. Thus, in the eastern regions of India, the festival of Dhulandi will be celebrated on Wednesday, March 8, 2023, and in the western regions of India, on Tuesday, March 7, 2023.
Bhai Dooj
In some states, the festival of Bhai Dooj is celebrated after Holi. It is celebrated on Chaitra Krishna Dwitiya. this year the festival
will be celebrated on March 9, 2023 Thursday. On this day Dwitiya is till 20:55.

दो दिन है होली!
जानें कब है आपके यहाँ?

होली का पर्व प्रदोषकालीन फाल्गुन शुक्ल पूर्णिमा के दिन मनाया जाता है। इस वर्ष फाल्गुन पूर्णिमा सोमवार 6 मार्च, 2023 को 16:18 से आरम्भ होकर 07 मार्च, 2023 मंगलवार को 18:10 तक रहेगी। जिन स्थानों पर 07 मार्च को सूर्यास्त 18:10 से पूर्व हो रहा है, उन स्थानों पर दो दिन प्रदोषकालीन फाल्गुन पूर्णिमा रहेगी और जिन स्थानों पर सूर्यास्त 07 तारीख को 18:10 के पश्चात् हो रहा है, तो उन स्थानों पर प्रदोषकालीन पूर्णिमा केवल एक दिन अर्थात् सोमवार 6 मार्च, 2023 को होगी। ऐसी स्थिति में स्थानभेदानुसार होलिकादहन दो दिन 6 मार्च एवं 7 मार्च को किया जाना शास्त्रसम्मत है। 
07 मार्च को 18:10 से पूर्व सूर्यास्त वाले क्षेत्र एवं होलिका दहन मुहूर्त
07 मार्च को 18:10 से पहले सूर्यास्त पूर्वी भारत के प्रदेशों में होगा। इनमें पूर्वी उत्तरप्रदेश, बिहार, झारखण्ड, पश्चिमी बंगाल, पूर्वोत्तर राज्य, ओडीशा, उत्तर-पूर्वी छत्तीसगढ़ एवं मध्यप्रदेश के पूर्वी जिले शामिल हैं। इन प्रदेशों में प्रदोषकालीन फाल्गुन पूर्णिमा 6 मार्च एवं 7 मार्च दोनों ही दिन है। ऐसी स्थिति में धर्मशास्त्रानुसार द्वितीय दिन होलिका दहन किया जाता है, क्योंकि प्रथम दिन प्रदोषकाल में भद्रा रहती है। भद्रा की अवधि 06 मार्च को सायं 16:18 से अर्द्धराित्र पश्चात् 05:16 तक है। भद्रा रहित अवधि में होलिका दहन किया जाता है। इसलिए इन प्रदेशों में होलिका दहन 7 मार्च, 2023 मंगलवार को प्रदोषकाल (18:10 से पूर्व) में किया जाएगा।
07 मार्च को 18:10 के बाद सूर्यास्त वाले क्षेत्र एवं होलिका दहन मुहूर्त
भारत के पश्चिमी प्रदेशों में 7 मार्च को 18:10 के पश्चात् सूर्यास्त होगा। इन प्रदेशों में जम्मू-कश्मीर, हिमाचल, पंजाब, हरियाणा, राजस्थान, पश्चिमी उत्तरप्रदेश, गुजरात, मध्यप्रदेश, महाराष्ट्र, आन्ध्रप्रदेश, तेलंगाना, कर्नाटक, तमिलनाडु, केरल आदि शामिल हैं। इन्हें मानचित्र में दर्शाया गया है। इन प्रदेशों में प्रदोषकालीन पूर्णिमा केवल एक ही दिन अर्थात् 6 मार्च, 2023 सोमवार को ही रहेगी, परन्तु उस दिन प्रदोषकाल में भद्रा रहेगी और उस दिन भद्रा अर्द्धरात्रि के पश्चात् 05:16 तक है। ऐसी स्थिति में धर्मशास्त्र का विधान है कि  यदि निशीथ काल से पूर्व भद्रा समाप्त होती है, तो भद्रा समाप्ति के पश्चात् होलिका दहन किया जाता है, परन्तु यदि निशीथ काल के पश्चात् भद्रा समाप्त हो रही है, तो भद्रा की मुखावधि को छोड़कर भद्रा में ही होलिका दहन किए जाने का विधान है।
यदि निशीथात्प्राक् भद्रासमाप्ति तदा भद्रावसानोत्तरमेव होलिका दीपनम्। निशीथोत्तरं भद्रासमाप्तौ भद्रामुखं त्यक्तवा भद्रायामेव।।

जहाँ तक भद्रामुख का प्रश्न है, तो वह अर्द्धरात्रि पश्चात् 02:00 से 04:00 बजे तक रहेगा। ऐसी स्थिति में धर्मसिन्धु के उपर्युक्त कथनानुसार भद्रा में ही होलिका दहन किया जा सकता है। 
धर्मसिन्धु के अनुसार दूसरे दिन पूर्णिमा प्रदोष व्यापिनी नहीं हो और पहले दिन प्रदोष के समय भद्रा हो, तो दूसरे दिन यदि पूर्णिमा साढ़े तीन प्रहर या उससे अधिक हो और उसके पश्चात् प्रतिपदा वृद्धिगामिनी हो, तो दूसरे दिन प्रदोषव्यापिनी प्रतिपदा में होलिका दहन किया जाना चाहिए, परन्तु यदि प्रतिपदा ह्रासगामिनी हो, ताे पहले ही दिन भद्रा पुच्छ में अथवा भद्रा मुख को त्यागकर भद्रा में ही होलिका दहन किया जाना चाहिए। 
परदिने प्रदोषस्पर्शाभावे पूर्वदिने प्रदोषेभद्रासत्वे यदि पूर्णिमा परदिने सार्धत्रियामा ततोधिका वा तत् परदिने च प्रतिपद् वृद्धिगामिनी तदा परदिने प्रतिपदी प्रदोषव्यापिन्यां होलिका। 
उक्तविषये यदि प्रतिपदो ह्रासस्तदा पूर्वदिने भद्रापुच्छे वा भद्रामुखमात्रं त्यक्त्वा भद्रायामेव वा होलिकादीपनं।। 
इस वर्ष प्रतिपदा ह्रासगामिनी है, क्योंकि प्रतिपदा का भोगकाल पूर्णिमा से कम है। ऐसी स्थिति में 6 मार्च को भद्रा में ही भद्रामुख को त्यागकर होलिका दहन किया जाना शास्त्रसम्मत होगा। इस सम्बन्ध में विद्वानों के दो मत मिलते हैं :
प्रथम मत के अनुसार भद्रा में ही जब होलिका दहन किया जाना है, तब मुख को छोड़कर ‘भद्रा पुच्छकाल’ में होलिका दहन किया जाना चाहिए। इस वर्ष पुच्छकाल 24:48 से 26:00 बजे तक है अर्थात् अर्द्धराित्र पश्चात् 00:48 से 02:00 बजे तक है।
द्वितीय मत के अनुसार धर्मसिन्धु के उक्त कथन में केवल ‘भद्रामुख’ को त्यागने का निर्देश है। ऐसी स्थिति में भद्रा में ही प्रदोषकाल में होलिका दहन किया जाना चाहिए। इस वर्ष भद्रा का पुच्छकाल भी अर्द्धरात्रि पश्चात् है। अर्द्धरात्रि पश्चात् होलिका दहन से बचने का प्रयास शास्त्रों में किया गया है, अत: प्रदोषकाल में 6 मार्च को होलिका दहन किया जाना उचित रहेगा। जिन स्थानों पर गोधूलिवेला में होलिका दहन की परम्परा है, उन स्थानों पर सूर्यास्त के पश्चात् 12 मिनट की अवधि में होलिका दहन किया जाना चाहिए। 

होलिका दहन मुहूर्त (2023 ई.)

धुलण्डी
होलिका दहन के दूसरे दिन रंगों का त्योहार ‘धुलण्डी’ मनाया जाता है। इस प्रकार जिन प्रदेशों में 6 मार्च सोमवार को होलिका दहन किया जाएगा, उन प्रदेशों में अगले दिन अर्थात् 
7 मार्च, 2023 मंगलवार को धुलण्डी का पर्व मनाया जाएगा तथा जिन प्रदेशों में 7 मार्च, 2023 मंगलवार को होलिका दहन किया जाएगा, उन प्रदेशों में 8 मार्च 2023 बुधवार को धुलण्डी का पर्व मनाया जाना चाहिए। इस प्रकार भारत के पूर्वी प्रदेशों में धुलण्डी का पर्व 8 मार्च, 2023 बुधवार को तथा भारत के पश्चिमी प्रदेशों में 7 मार्च, 2023 मंगलवार को धुलण्डी का पर्व मनाया जाएगा।
भाईदूज
कुछ प्रदेशों में होली के बाद भाईदूज का पर्व मनाया जाता है। वह चैत्र कृष्ण द्वितीया पर मनाया जाता है। इस वर्ष यह पर्व 
9 मार्च, 2023 गुरुवार को मनाया जाएगा। इस दिन द्वितीया 20:55 तक है। •
