There lived a Seth named Dharmapala in a town. He was happy because of getting Sulakshana wife and wealth and wealth, but he had no children, as a result he was unhappy because of not getting child happiness even after getting all kinds of happiness. After some time by the grace of God, he got a short-lived son.
He was cursed to die of snake bite in the sixteenth year. Fortunately, he was married before the age of sixteen to a girl whose mother had observed a fast of Mangala Gauri. The girl born due to the effect of Mangala Gauri's fast could not suffer the sorrow of Vaidyavyya, as a result of which Dharmapala's son became Shatayu. In this way, newly married women should observe this fast for unbroken good fortune.
After listening to the story, sixteen laddus should be donated to a Brahmin by keeping his mother-in-law and other material in a bamboo vessel. After that the aarti of Mangala Gauri should be done with the sixteen-faced lamp. On the second day, the idol of Mata Gauri should be immersed in a reservoir. After worshiping Mangala Gauri for five years, this fast should be observed on the last Tuesday of the fifth year of Shravan.
