Rama Ekadashi fasting

Ekadashi of Kartik Krishna Paksha is known as Rama Ekadashi. This year it is falling on 21st October. On this day, Savidhi Ekadashi fast is observed and in the evening the story of Rama Ekadashi fast is heard. Tulsi Puja has special significance on this day.
Fasting Story
It is a matter of Dwapar era, Lord Krishna had many queens, among them Satyabhama was also one. She had the pride of being Rupmati. She used to think that it is because of her appearance that Shri Krishna loves her. Once Narad ji came to Shri Krishna's palace, Satyabhama asked Narad ji to give such blessings, so that in the next life also Shri Krishna would get me in the form of husband. On this, Narad ji said, 'The rule is that whatever is donated in this life, then in the next life that thing is received by him.
If you donate to Shri Krishna, then in the next life you will get Shri Krishna as a husband.' Satyabhama donated Shri Krishna to Narad ji. When Narad ji started taking the donated Shri Krishna with him to heaven, other queens blocked his way and started saying that give back our honey to us, on this Narad ji said that 'Give it back to Shri Krishna on one condition' I can. If you give gold and gems equal to their weight, I will give them back to you.' Hearing these words of Naradji, all his queens put a balance in it and on one side Shri Krishna sat and on the other side those queens He started keeping his own jewellery. He put all his gems and ornaments in the balance of the balance, but did not tilt the pan. The queens were very upset. When Rukmini got the news of this, she came near Narad ji after doing Tulsi Puja and kept the Tulsi Dal obtained from Tulsi Puja in the second pan of the scale. Due to the grace of Tulsidas, the scales tilted and the weight of the balance became equal. Narad ji handed over the donated Shri Krishna to Rukmini and went to heaven with Tulsidas. In this way, the marriage of Rukmini and other queens came back from the glory of Tulsi Mata.

रमा एकादशी व्रत

कार्तिक कृष्ण पक्ष की एकादशी रमा एकादशी के नाम से जानी जाती है। इस वर्ष यह 21 अक्टूबर को पड़ रही है। इस दिन सविधि एकादशी व्रत किया जाता है और सायंकाल में रमा एकादशी व्रत की कथा का श्रवण किया जाता है। इस दिन तुलसी पूजा का विशेष महत्त्व है।
व्रत-कथा
द्वापर युग की बात है, भगवान् श्रीकृष्ण की अनेक रानियाँ थीं, उनमें सत्यभामा भी एक थी। उसे रूपमती होने का घमण्ड था। वह सोचा करती थी कि उसके रूप के कारण ही श्रीकृष्ण उससे प्रेम करते हैं। एक बार नारद जी श्रीकृष्ण के महल में पधारे, तो सत्यभामा ने नारद जी से कहा कि ऐसा आशीर्वाद दीजिए, जिससे कि अगले जन्म में भी श्रीकृष्ण मुझे पति रूप में प्राप्त हों। इस पर नारद जी बोले ‘नियम यह है कि जिस वस्तु को इस जन्म में दान किया जाता है, तो अगले जन्म में वह वस्तु उसे प्राप्त होती है। 
यदि तुम श्रीकृष्ण को दान कर दो, तो अगले जन्म में श्रीकृष्ण तुम्हें पति के रूप में प्राप्त हो जाएँगे।’ सत्यभामा ने नारद जी को श्रीकृष्ण दान में दे दिए। नारद जी जब दान में प्राप्त श्रीकृष्ण को अपने साथ स्वर्ग में ले जाने लगे, तो अन्य रानियों ने उनका रास्ता रोक लिया और कहने लगीं कि हमारा सुहाग हमें वापस दे दो, इस पर नारद जी ने कहा कि ‘एक शर्त पर श्रीकृष्ण को वापस दे सकता हूँ। यदि तुम इनके वजन के बराबर सोना एवं रत्न दे दो, तो मैं इन्हें तुम्हें वापस दे दूँगा।’ नारदजी के इन वचनों को सुनकर उनकी सभी रानियों ने एक तुला लगवा दी और उसमें एक ओर श्रीकृष्ण बैठ गए और दूसरी ओर के पलड़े में उन रानियों ने अपने-अपने आभूषण-रत्नादि रखना आरम्भ किया। उन्होंने अपने समस्त रत्न-आभूषण तुला के पलड़े में रख दिए, किन्तु पलड़ा झुका ही नहीं। रानियाँ बड़ी परेशान हुइ। रुक्मिणी को जब इसका समाचार मिला, तो वे तुलसी पूजा करने के उपरान्त नारद जी के समीप आयीं और उन्होंने तुलसी पूजा से प्राप्त तुलसीदल को तराजू के दूसरे पलड़े में रख दिया। तुलसीदल के प्रताप से तराजू का पलड़ा झुक गया और तुला का वजन बराबर हो गया। नारद जी ने दान में लिए हुए श्रीकृष्ण को रुक्मिणी को सौंप दिया और तुलसीदल को लेकर स्वर्ग चले गए। इस प्रकार तुलसी माता के प्रताप से ही रुक्मिणी एवं अन्य रानियों का सुहाग वापस आया।
