Lord Vishnu incarnated as Parashurama in the first half of the night in Ardra Nakshatra on Vaishakh Shukla Tritiya. On this day six planets were in their exalted signs and Rahu was transiting in Gemini. This year, due to Vaishakh Shukla Tritiya being on May 03, 2022 in the first part of the night, Parshuram Jayanti has been considered on this day.
Lord Parashurama's father's name was Jamadagni and mother's name was Renuka. It is said that Parshuram's mother and Vishwamitra's mother got prasad together to get a son. This offering was interchanged. For this reason, Parashuram ji with Kshatriya qualities was born in a Brahmin family and Vishwamitra ji with Brahmin qualities was born in a Kshatriya clan. When Jamadagni was killed by a king named Sahasrarjuna, Parashurama made the earth devoid of Kshatriya 21 times. They were named because of keeping 'Parshu' meaning 'Farsa (Axe)'.
A fast is observed on the day of Parashuram Jayanti and silence is observed till sunset. After worshiping Lord Parashurama in the evening, night awakening is done.
