Goddess Mahagauri is worshiped on the eighth day of Navratri

The eighth form of the mother is called 'Mahagauri'. Mahagauri means the one who is beautiful and divine. If we look carefully, we find that there are two extreme forms of nature. Of these two forms, one is Kalratri, who is the most terrifying and destructive and the other sees Mahagauri, the most beautiful and pure form of the Mother Goddess. Mahagauri represents the symbol of beauty. Mahagauri fulfills the wishes of all of us. Goddess Mahagauri bestows blessings and boons on all of us to seek material gains, so that we remain content from within and move ahead in life. According to 'Narad Pancharatra', while doing penance in the Himalayas for the attainment of Shambhu, Gauri's body became dirty after being covered with dust and soil. Pleased with his penance, Shiva washed it with the Ganges water, then Mahagauri's body became like electricity. He had attained glory by his penance. That is why she became famous by the name 'Mahagauri'.

नवरात्र में आठवें दिन देवी महागौरी का पूजन

माता के आठवें रूप को ‘महागौरी’ कहा जाता है। महागौरी का अर्थ है, वह रूप जो सुन्दर और  दिव्यमान है। अगर हम ध्यान से देखें, तो पाते हैं कि प्रकृति के दो चरम रूप हैं। इन दोनों रूपों में से एक कालरात्रि है, जो सबसे अधिक भयानक और विनाशकारी हैं और दूसरी महागौरी को देखते हैं, जो कि मातृ देवी का सबसे सुन्दर और निर्मल रूप है। महागौरी सुन्दरता की प्रतीक का प्रतिनिधित्व करती हैं। महागौरी हम सभी की इच्छाओं को पूरा करती हैं। देवी महागौरी हम सभी को आशीर्वाद और वरदान देती हैं कि हम भौतिक लाभ की तलाश करें, ताकि हम भीतर से सन्तुष्ट रहें और जीवन में आगे बढ़ें।  ‘नारद पांचरात्र’ के अनुसार शम्भू की प्राप्ति के लिए हिमालय में तपस्या करते समय गौरी का शरीर धूल-मिट्टी से ढँककर मलिन हो गया था। इनकी तपस्या से प्रसन्न होकर शिवजी ने गंगाजल से धोया, तब महागौरी का शरीर विद्युत् के सदृश कान्तिमान हो गया। इन्होंने अपनी तपस्या द्वारा गौरवर्ण प्राप्त किया था। इसलिये ये ‘महागौरी’ नाम से प्रसिद्ध हुयीं।
